  1. [lucene-dev] RE: Different behavior of Directory.fieldLength()

    Sent 2010-03-13 by Uwe Schindler <uwe@...>

    That is not true, the API says: "Creates a new File *instance* from a parent pathname string and a child pathname string." Please note "instance", so it will never create the file on disk. New File() just creates a file instance but no file on disk. You can check this with a simple test. Uwe -...

    Sent 2010-03-12 by An Hong <An.Hong@...>

    I just want to report that the download of the zip sources from the old-archive directory now works for me. I'm not sure what the problem was, but it's gone now. Thanks to those who replied. 5. [lucene-dev] Different behavior of Directory.fieldLength()

    Sent 2010-03-12 by Marcelo Ochoa <marcelo.ochoa@...>

    Hi: During some test of Lucene Domain Index (http://docs.google.com/View?id=ddgw7sjp_54fgj9kg) with big data sources we found an exception caused for calling Directory.fieldLength() method on non existing file. FSDirectory implements this method as: /** Returns the length in bytes of a file...

    Sent 2010-03-12 by Marc Sturlese <marc.sturlese@...>

    Thanks Hoss for the useful info. Acording the coord(q,d) definition it's calculated at document level. It's said: is a score factor based on how many of the query terms are found in the specified document If I am just searching for a term, "ipod" in this case, how would be coord computed? Would ...

    Committers are competant in different areas of the code. Even mike wasn't big into the search side until per segment. Commiters are trusted to mess with the pieces they know. I don't see anyone even remotely suggesting that users should have to understand all of the implications of posti...
